Meet Sonya

I am a native of Middle Tennessee. I have lived here all of my life except for the five years I spent in New Mexico completing my undergraduate degree and embarking on a career in mental health care.

I have practiced psychotherapy since 1992 in a variety of settings in the desert Southwest, as well as here in the South, including education, community mental health, not-for-profit agencies and in private practice. I have a Masters of Social Work from the University of Tennessee and have trained extensively in couples therapy. In private practice as a licensed clinical social worker, I specialize in assisting adults who are currently experiencing life and/or relationship challenges.  Benefiting from more than 20 years of post-graduate experience and training, and with an ongoing commitment to utilizing the very best clinical supervision, I find great joy in helping individuals and couples create transformational change in their lives and relationships.

When not working in a career I dearly love, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, taking walks in the park, swinging in my hammock, working out at Orange Theory, listening to lots of Jason Isbell and Bruce Springsteen, watching films at the Belcourt, eating delicious food, reading good books and traveling.  The beach is my happy place, and fostering Greyhounds feeds my soul.
